It was another successful road trip for the women’s basketball team as they improved to 8-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with wins over Lake Superior State and Northwood.

On Thursday the Eagles came out strong against Lake Superior State as they jumped out to a 12-0 lead from the start. The Eagles never looked back as they cruised to a 94-66 victory.

Freshmen Jodi Johnson paced the Eagles with 17 points. She also chipped in five rebounds and three assists. Andi Daugherty and Laina Snyder combined for 29 points 13 rebounds and four assists as the duo continues to prove their dominance at the Division II level. 

Ashland has continued to get tremendous production form their bench as they scored 29 points in the win. 

Maddie Dackin has been a key contributer for the Eagles off the bench and she impressed once again as she had 10 points. 

Mackenzie Edwards led the way for the Lakers with 21 points and four rebounds.

On Saturday the Eagles took on Northwood and handed them just their second loss of the season.

The Eagles forced 22 turnovers and scored 28 points off those turnovers as they got their eighth win of the season, 95-63.

Andi Daugherty had a big game as she dropped 21 points for the Eagles. Jodi Johnson had her second straight big game as she scored 17 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

Laina Snyder got another double double for the Eagles with 12 points and ten rebounds. Julie Worley and Dackin added 15 and 13 off the bench respectively. 

Lindsay Orwat had 17 points to lead the way for the Timberwolves. 

Ashland improves to 24-4 in their last 28 games on the road. This is the sixth time that the Eagles have scored over 90 points which is already more than they had combined in the last two seasons. The Prolific scoring of the Eagles continued as they remain second in the nation in points per game averaging 97.1 ppg.

AU will have a big matchup next weekend as they will take on Saginaw Valley State on Thursday and Wayne State on Saturday.
