Eagles roll to 10-0

The Ashland University women’s basketball team continued their undefeated streak after defeating the Wayne State Warriors 103-55 Saturday afternoon making their overall record 10-0 and 4-0 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.  

After starting off the game with the Eagles up 2-0 after a layup made by Junior forward Andi Daugherty. The Warriors were not slow to catch themselves up to the Eagles being within a one to two point range.

Ashland was able to come away with a three point lead after a layup by Alex Henning and ran with it taking a 17-10 lead and never looked back.

Big scorers of the game were Junior forward Laina Snyder and Daugherty, both scoring 19 points. Combined they recorded 17 rebounds and six assists. Daugherty also made Eagle history as she moved into 16th place on Ashland’s all-time scoring list.  Junior forward Julie Worley also recorded 18 points.

Senior guard, Alex Henning had six points and eight assists while Kelsey Peare and Maddie Ducklin each scored 10 points.

The Eagles were also able to obtain their third 100-plus-point game of the season. The team was able to post a new program record with their three digit win.

The Eagles shot  50 percent  from the field, 40 percent from 3-point range, and 82.6 percent from the free-throw line.

The No. 2 ranked team in the NCAA Division II team will next take on Notre Dame on Wednesday (Dec. 14) at 6 p.m. at Notre Dame College.
