It was a tough road test for the Eagles coming off of a four game home stand, but they used a huge game from Laina Snyder to outlast the Lake Erie Storm, 86-79. 

The Storm (7-10, 5-6 GLIAC) got ahead early and led 5-0. The Eagles responded but the Storm never went away and kept the game close throughout. 

AU led by four to end the first quarter, 22-18 and after playing to a draw in quarter number two, the score was 41-37 in favor of the Eagles. 

In the third, the Eagles ran into some trouble early as Andi Daugherty picked up her fourth foul less than a minute into the second half. 

The Eagles were able to string a few baskets together as their lead increased to eight with under five minutes to play in the third. The Storm raged back and cut the lead to 65-62 entering the fourth quarter. 

A 9-2 run to open the final quarter put the Eagles up 10, as they appeared to be pulling away from the Storm. 

But once again the Storm would not go away as Brianna Shagovac got into the paint and knocked down a layup with 3:41 to go cutting the lead to three. 

The Eagles closed the game on a 7-3 run to escape from Painesville with an 86-79 win to improve to 19-0 on the year and 11-0 in the GLIAC.

Snyder dominated in all fascists of the game as she scored 23 points to go along with 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Jodi Johnson continued to impress as she had 16 points on 6-8 shooting and seven rebounds in the win. 

Andi Daugherty chipped in 13 points and five rebounds despite fouling out in the fourth and being in foul trouble for the entirety of the second half.

Kayla Gabor was outstanding for the Storm as she shot 9-19 from the field for 25 points. She also pulled down six rebounds and had five steals. 

AU was strong from the free throw line as they hit 23-26 from the line.

The Eagles struggled to get things going from behind the arc as they shot just 3-15 from behind the arc. 

Ashland will be off on Saturday as they will have a week to prepare for what could be one of their toughest road tests of the season as they head to Canton to take on the Walsh Cavaliers.

Walsh was the only team that defeated the Eagles in the regular season in the 2015-16 season and that game was on the road for the Eagles as well.

The 19-0 start is the third best in program history as they are just two wins away from tying their 21-0 start from a year ago.
