Win thriller on the road: Men defeat the Storm 76-74

The Ashland University men’s basketball team went on the road and picked up a 76-74 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Lake Erie on Thursday night.
Senior guard Boo Osborne made four free throws in the final 17 seconds of the game to seal the win for AU (11-6, 6-5 GLIAC).
Osborne paced the Eagles with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Others contributing for Ashland were junior forward Marsalis Hamilton (13 points, 6 rebounds), senior guard Adrian Cook (12 points) and redshirt-sophomore guard Ben Haraway (10 points).
Midway through the first half the Eagles led 23-14 before Lake Erie (3-16, 2-9 GLIAC) used a 15-5 run to take a 29-28 lead.
Ashland responded with six straight points, and the Eagles went into halftime leading 34-32.
AU led 54-48 halfway through the second half, but the Storm went on an 8-3 run, cutting the Eagle lead to one.
Haraway responded with a four-point play to increase Ashland’s lead to 61-56.
Lake Erie tied the game at 65 with a little over five minutes left, but AU then scored five consecutive points.
The Eagles led 72-70 in the final seconds of the game when Osborne sank the four free throws to clinch the victory.
AU got 26 points from its bench and turned 16 Storm turnovers into 21 points.
Next up for Ashland is a home contest at Kates Gymnasium on Saturday (Jan. 21) against Ohio Mid-Western.
