It was a slow start for the Eagles as they trailed 26-22 at the end of the first quarter but the Eagles outlasted the Hillsdale Chargers 85-66 to improve to 18-0 on the season.

The Ashland University Women’s basketball team began with an 8-2 lead early on courtesy of four points from both Jodi Johnson and Andi Daugherty to open up the game.  The Chargers pulled ahead and grabbed the lead at the end of the first, but AU responded in the second by outscoring Hillsdale 20-9 en route to a 42-35 lead at the half.

Hillsdale kept the game close in the third quarter before Ashland was able to pull away in the fourth and grab the 19-point win to remain undefeated on the season.

The Eagles were led by Laina Snyder who recorded another double-double scoring 17 points and pulling down 16 rebounds for the Eagles.

Johnson chipped in 13 points and Kelsey Peare had 11 points in the Eagles win. 

Andi Daugherty distributed the ball very effectively for the Eagles as she had six assists to go along with seven points and three rebounds.

Hillsdale held the Eagles to 43% shooting from the field and just 25% from behind the three point line. 

The Chargers were led by Makenna Ott who had 16 points on 6-11 shooting from the floor. Allie Dewire had 11 points, five rebounds, and five assists in the loss.

The Eagles improve their record to 33-1 as the No.1 ranked team in the country and stay unbeaten on the season.

The Eagles will hit the road next week to take on Lake Erie on Thursday.
