For the sixth time this season, the women’s basketball team hit the century mark, defeating the Findlay Oilers 110-65 and improved their record to 21-0.

They also set a new mark for most GLIAC regular-season wins in a row at home with 27. The Eagles also tied the program’s second best start to a season, their 24-0 start in their 2012-2013 championship season the only one besting this season’s start.

The Oilers came into Kates Gymnasium with an 8-12 overall record and were coming off a close loss to the Tiffin Dragons 77-71.

In their matchup with the Oilers, junior Laina Snyder led with 20 points and added eight rebounds, three assists and six steals. Along with Snyder, five other Eagles scored in double-digits; freshman Jodi Johnson with 15, senior Kelsey Peare, 12, senior Alex Henning, 11 junior Andi Daughtery, ten and sophomore Maddie Dackin scored ten.

Snyder’s 20-points allowed her to move into a tie for sixth place on AU’s all-time scoring list with 1,370 points.

Defensively, the Eagles also remained on top, forcing the Oliers to 29 turnovers, which led to 35 points.

Typical to every game this season, the Eagles set the tone early, taking a 3-0 deficient in the first quarter to a 20-6 lead and never looked back the remainder of the game.

The Eagle’s were also able to clear their bench, something they have been able to do often throughout the 2016-2017 season. Fralick says being able to use their bench so often is a huge advantage to her team for when they head into the post season as well as in future seasons.

Saturday’s game saw an even larger crowd than usual, as it was also host to the Athletic Department sponsored Fan Fest. The event including discounts on tickets as well as contests for fans who could attempt to win tickets to the Columbus Zoo gift cards and $500.

Up next, the Eagles will compete against the 5-12 Tiffin Dragons on Monday. Tip off at 5:30 p.m.
