The Ashland University wrestling squad walked away from their tri-meet in Painesville, Ohio victorious over No. 14 Lake Erie College and No. 18 Kutztown College on Saturday.

The Eagles are 6-2 for the season in head on competitions for the season and they are on a four match winning streak.

The No. 12 Eagle wrestling squad first dual versus the Kutztown Golden Bears produced six victories out of ten matches for a score of 25-14.

No. 1 ranked redshirt senior Michael Labry (133) and No. 7 ranked Brent Fickel ( at 149) were the only two wrestlers in the dual between the two squads to earn a victory by major decision.

Ashland sophomore Chandler Minnard (141) pinned Ryne Morrison (Kutztown) in 1:57.

Redshirt junior Luke Cramer (197) won by technical fall over Nick Mort (Kutztown) in 5:00.

Other Eagles victories came from Garrett Hall (157) and redshirt junior Jordan Murphy(184).

The Eagles second dual of the day against the Lake Erie Storm provided nine victories out of ten matches.

Jordan Murphy earned a hard fought victory over No. 10-ranked Lake Erie junior Tyler Hughes by decision 5-0.

Redshirt freshman Bret Romanzak (165) won by decision 2-1 over No. 6-ranked Storm junior Nick Vandermeer.

Michael Labry, Chandler Minnard and Luke Cramer all won their matches by major decision, and Brent Fickel won by technical fall in 5:37.

Redshirt junior J.J. Diven (157) and senior Brenden Stanley (174) walked away with victories by decision.

Sophomore Deaken McCoy (285) wrapped up the dual with a convincing victory as he pinned Zach Wood (Lake Erie) 1:11 into the match.

Ashland will return to Kates Gymnasium as they face the No. 7 nationally ranked Findlay Roughnecks on Friday (Feb. 3) at 7:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
