On Feb. 4, Ashland University’s St. Jude Chapter will hold it’s annual Up ‘Til Dawn fundraiser event. The event raises money and awareness for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Up ‘Til Dawn takes place from 12-6 a.m. on Feb. 4 in the Recreation Center and check-in starts at 11 p.m. on Feb. 3. Participants stay up all night doing activities, dancing, and playing games in order to pass the time for six hours.
The only requirement to participate in the event is to raise $100 for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through the St. Jude Up ‘Til Dawn website.
In order to get reach the $100 requirement, participants have been fundraising and preparing for the event for a couple of weeks now.
On Jan. 25 St. Jude executive board held an email sending party in the Eagle’s Landing to help people raise money. There was pizza and board members there to help people sign up and learn ways to fundraise the money by themselves or with their friends.
“We wanted to give our participants a chance to fundraise their $100 to participate in the event,” said Gaby Northeim, co-director of the St. Jude executive board at AU.
All of the money raised will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help children fighting with life-threatening diseases.
“Children with cancer are fighting 24/7,” Northeim said. “We stay up all night since they stay up all night fighting for their lives.”
