On March 29, Ashland University’s Alpha Phi held their annual, “Mr. University,” in the Upper Convocation Center. Male students represented various organizations on AU’s campus. Those students participated in three rounds of competition in attempts to impress the judges.

Logan Rex was crowned as this year’s Mr. University after competing against multiple other contestants. Rex was representing Residence Life throughout the competition.

To start the contest off, the contestants had to come up with a clever introduction that not only exhibited what they were representing, but also expressed who they were.

Those who made it past the first round were then permitted onto the talent portion of the evening. In this round the judges saw everything from juggling and singing to impressions and magic tricks.

In the final round of the day, the judges narrowed the competition down to just five men who took turns answering the judges’ questions in a final attempt to dazzle them.

Those who attended the event were able to donate money into their favorite contestant’s bucket, the contestant who had the most money in his bucket was automatically passed through to the next round.

Donating money also gave the audience members the opportunity to participate in a raffle as well. They were given tickets to bid on a basket of their choice.

Mr. University was the final event in Alpha Phi’s Cardiac Care week. The other events that were going on in an attempt to raise money included a Buffalo Wild Wings fundraiser, Group X activities, the Bail-Out cage, and dodgeball.

All proceeds from this week went directly towards funding Alpha Phi’s Foundation. Their foundation supports women’s cardiac health as well as a number of other foundation funds programs.
