How to: Stay savvy on spring break
March 2, 2018
Spring Break is a monumental time for most college students. But not all students are able to make their way home or to some exotic destination and are often forced to stay on campus. But that does not mean they cannot still make the best of it.
Having a “staycation” can be just as fun and exciting. Here are some ways students can have a memorable spring break without breaking the bank.
1.Binge watch an entire series:
The first few days of Spring Break, students may find themselves feeling exhausted from the previous week of midterm exams. So what better way to rest up than lying in bed all day and watching Netflix? Get adventurous and build a fort in your dorm room and watch some classic movies or new Netflix series.
2. Nearby National Park:
Ashland is close to many signature locations such as the Cuyahoga River and Mohican State Park. Both of these places are fantastic for hiking and have breath-taking scenery and it is absolutely free.
3. Picnic on the Quad:
The warm weather is starting to come around more often which makes it the perfect time for a picnic on the quad. It is practically effortless to grab a blanket, swing by Eagle’s Nest for a quick sandwich, then make your way over to the quad for some quality time with friends or the campus squirrels. Or, if the ground is too wet, there is always the brand new picnic tables out on the quad
4. Spa Day:
Pamper yourself. You deserve it after endless lectures and hand-cramping notes. All this day should consist of is you sitting back and relaxing without a care in the world. Give yourself a mani-pedi, slap on a cleansing facemask, and play some calming music.
5. Adventuring:
Even though you do not have a week long vacation planned out, you can still do a little bit of traveling! Round up some of your best friends and take a trip to a nearby wood to check it out, and if you’re really feeling adventurous then you can always string up a hammock and spend the night.
6. DIY:
Pinterest has tons and tons of Do It Yourself (DIY) projects that can fit anyone’s interest! Whether you want to spruce up your dorm room or your wardrobe, it’ll be a breeze to find a project that will help the time just fly by.
7. Water Park:
The Kalahari Waterpark in Sandusky, Ohio, is the largest indoor waterpark in the world and is only one hour away from campus. There are countless water rides, hot tubs, and wave pools all under one roof! And once you are done swimming, enjoy your time at the arcade or grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants available.
