Track and Field begins outdoor season

The Ashland University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams competed at the Miami (Ohio) Duals on Saturday.

Jordan Crayon automatically qualified to the NCAA Division II nationals, winning the men’s hammer throw at 67.09 meters.

Daniel Roberts finished second (66.15 meters), and Bryn Campbell was third (63.91 meters) and improved his provisional distance.

AU’s other two improved provisional marks came via Jason Zahn, who won the men’s discus throw (54.10 meters) and placed sixth in the men’s shot put (16.74 meters).

Myles Pringle in the men’s 200-meter dash (21.30 seconds), Devin Snowden in the men’s 400 hurdles (53.31) and the men’s 4×100 relay team (41.06) all won their events and earned new provisional entries.

Amber Otermat placed second in the women’s pole vault and turned in a new provisional distance of 3.65 meters.

Also winning their events were Samantha Duale in the women’s 100 dash (12.17), Elijah Talk in the men’s shot put (18.00 meters), Pringle in the men’s high jump (1.95 meters), Dylan Kipp in the men’s javelin throw (55.70 meters) and Rebecca Koval in the women’s high jump (1.65 meters).

Finishing second were Jacob Sprague in the men’s pole vault (4.40 meters), the men’s 4×400 relay team (3:17.20), Arthur Greenlee IV in the men’s 110 hurdles (14.60 seconds) and Brandon Wilson in the men’s 100 dash (11.04 seconds).

Third-place finishes went to Jackie Genetin in the women’s 800 run (2:18.11) and Roberts in the men’s discus throw (52.78 meters).

At the Wooster Invitational on Friday, third-place finishes for AU went to Brandon Sicurella in the men’s hammer throw (47.70 meters) and Zach Humrichouser in the men’s 5,000 run (15:26.02).
