AU to host summer art camp
April 28, 2019
Artists ages eight to 13 years old will be offered a chance to attend a week-long art summer camp titled Bio-Basquiat in Ashland University’s Center for the Arts studio spaces.
Coburn Art Gallery Director and Professional Instructor, Cynthia Petry, is one of the teachers at the camp, along with Jennifer Winkler, Art educator at Green locals School System.
“It was started in partnership with the Art Saturdays program to offer our art education and fine art students an opportunity to work with and teaching opportunities to young artists, and offer an artistic opportunity for local community students of all ages,” Petry said.
This art camp combines “art history with biology-specifically the contemporary artist Jean Michel Basquiat and his graffiti-like techniques while exploring animals and their place within our world,” Petry said. “The students will be exposed to many different artmaking techniques during the camp.”
The Summer Art Camp fee is $75 per child and enrollment is limited. All materials are provided. It runs from June 17-21, 9 a.m. – noon.
“It allows young artists to expand their skill set and knowledge in a fun and educational environment,” Petry said.
According to the Press Release, registration and payment is due prior to the class date to ensure a spot in the camp. For more information or to register your child for summer art activities, call 419.289.5652 or email [email protected].
