CAB to host annual Springfest
April 11, 2019
The Ashland University Campus Activities Board is preparing to close out the 2018-2019 school year with their annual Springfest, an event that occurs during the last week of the spring semester before final exams.
The Springfest event is mainly held outdoors at the academic Quad, located between the library, Patterson Hall, Jacobs Hall, and the Kettering Science Center.
“The festivities this year have a carnival theme to them,” CAB tech crew member Ashley Schaar said.
The first event on the schedule is Free Bowling at Luray Lanes, which will take place on April 25 from 9 p.m to 1 a.m.
Other events will include a sand volleyball tournament on April 27, and students can register online by going to imleagues.com and create a team before the April 24 deadline, not to mention there will also be an outdoor movie.
The Outdoor Movie, which this year is titled “Night School,” will be shown at the Academic Quad on April 26 at 9 p.m.
“Night School” is one of two movies being shown this month by the CAB tech crew, with the other being Fahrenheit 451. That will be seen on April 13 at 8 p.m. in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center.
Patrons going to the event should see some fun activities, according to CAB committee Co-Chair Zhane Scott.
“There’s a lot of fun to be expected,” Scott said. “Everyone can expect something to do with the outdoor activities.”
The majority of the Outdoor Activities will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Quad.
Some of those activities will include the aforementioned Sand Volleyball Tournament, a concert, and even a football game. The activities may have to be moved indoors if the weather does not permit.
However, one thing that will be different compared to last year’s Springfest is that there will not be any food trucks available, Schaar said.
