Brandon Campo, a former Ashland University employee, and son of President Carlos Campo pleaded guilty to one count of endangering children and possession of schedule four drugs on Wednesday at the Ashland Municipal Court.

The city law office dropped charges of possession of criminal tools, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were dropped in exchange for the guilty pleas.

Brandon’s wife, Madeline Campo, also pleaded guilty to drug paraphernalia and marijuana possession charges. Her child endangering charge was also dropped.

Brandon was apprehended on AU’s campus on June 19 at 12:35 p.m. and then transported to his residence on State Route 60.

According to the Ashland Police report filed on June 19, several drug-related items were found within the residence. Law enforcement cited four bottles of marijuana, one baggie of marijuana, a leather bag with marijuana grinders, a bottle with green pills and blue pills, as well as, a bottle containing blue, yellow, and white pills, a digital scale, two glass marijuana pipes, a glass jar with marijuana residue, a black marijuana smoker, a wooden box with marijuana seeds and rolling papers.

The reports state, “The marijuana was found in the basement bathroom, hidden in the ceiling.” Other paraphernalia was also found in the bathroom cabinet drawer, bathroom medicine cabinet and the bedroom dresser.

Municipal Court Judge John Good told the couple that he does not know much about what happened but would like to know more about both of them as well as know more about the facts.

Good told Madeline that he could have sentenced her immediately but decided to wait for a pre-sentence investigation to be completed for both cases.

Sentencing in both cases is scheduled for Jan. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ashland Municipal Court.
