Women’s Golf Comes in 14th Place at William Beall Fall Classic

The Ashland University Women’s Golf team came in 14th out of the 15 teams competing at the William Beall Fall Classic Findlay Country Club in Findlay, OH on October 7 and 8.
The Eagles ended day one tied for 14th place with a round of 337. AU sophomore Hannah Lemons led the Eagles ending the day at 6-over par after her round of 78 tying her for 24th place. AU sophomore Sophie Hemleben ended day one tied for 61st place after a round of 84.
Missouri St. Louis ended day one in first place with a round of 295. The Findlay Oilers ended the day with a round of 300 on home turf, and Grand Valley State shot 302, putting them in third at the end of day one.
The Eagles ended the tournament in 14th place shooting a 337-336—673. Hannah Lemons capped off day two with a round of 74 tying her for 10th place at the end of the tournament. This is the second time this fall that Lemons has finished in the top 10 after she tied for third at the Michael Corbett Classic.
Hemleben tied for 60th place after shooting 84-85—169. AU senior Monica Torda shot 86-89—175, tying her for 76th place. Eagles junior Logan Pottorf finished with a round of 89-88—177 putting her in 81st place, while freshman Cece Dillon shot 89-90—179 tying her for 82nd place.
AU freshman Sophi Lowe competed as a individual and ended in a tie for 84th place after shooting 88-96—184.
Missouri-St. Louis held on to their first place finish winning the tournament at 295-303—598. Emma Tomgren and Maxi Roth led their team, Tomgren shooting 73-73—149 and Roth shooting 75-74—149.
Grand Valley State took second place after shooting a 302-301—603. Leading the Lakers was Mackenzie Blomberg with a round of 77-72—149.
The Findlay Oilers ended with 300-304—604, putting them in third place. Kristina Kniesly and Meredith Wipper led the Oilers, Kniesly shooting 72-76—148 and Wipper shooting 81-67—148.
Next, the Ashland University Women’s Golf team heads to the Kentucky Wesleyan Invitation starting on October 13 at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, KY.
