The Ashland University Eagles wrestling team traveled to Massillon High School to compete against the Notre Dame Falcons Sunday, Jan. 14. The Eagles lost 19-18.

“Sunday was a tough team. We have been fortunate to wrestle several tough teams already this season and plenty more before we are finished. We learn something from each match and the experience will hopefully prepare us for national tournament,” stated coach Joshua Hutchens.

Luke Cramer (10-0, ranked No. 1) and Jordan Murphy (9-0, No. 4) both had yet another win to keep them undefeated. They could become the first in school history to be undefeated going into the national champions.

Cramer defeated a freshman 8-1 and Murphy beat a junior 12-5.

Three other Eagles also won their matches, Bob Mason (8-3) won his match 4-2. Bret Romanzak (25-3, No. 3) was the winner in a 3-1 decision, he also has 10 more victories than anyone on the team. Tristen Weirich also won his match by a forfeit.
