Women’s Golf places third

Thanks to a

spirited rally Monday on the final day of play, the Ashland

University women’s golf team placed third out of 14 teams at the

Grand Valley State Laker Classic.

This was a field

loaded with quality teams from around the country. On Monday,

Ashland shot 306. The only team to better that score was Florida

Southern, which shot 295.

Florida Southern

won the tournament title with a two-day score of 600. Augustana

College (SD) was second at 613 and AU was third. Ashland’s final

score was 630.

The host Lakers

were fourth (633) and Drury (636) was fifth. California (Penn.),

one of the top teams in the country, was eighth (644) and

Indianapolis finished in a tie for ninth place (648).

Florida Southern

golfers took the top two spots in the tournament. Melanie Audette

shot a 145 and Marianne Andersson (146) was the

runner-up.

AU’s top score was

turned in by senior Annie Miles. She shot 151 and finished in a

two-way tie for fifth place. Sophomore Holly James finished in a

six-way tie for 18th. She shot a 157.
