False advertising?

By Brian Wells

Whenever you enter convo, you see the words “continuous service 7:00-7:00” printed next to the door. That’s awesome, because it means all you can eat between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

For a food enthusiast such as myself, the only thing that would make it better is if they served Taco Bell.

Well, unfortunately they don’t, and they don’t have full service from 7 – 7 p.m. I guess that’s Convo’s way of saying, “Psych!” Now, maybe I missed it but I never saw any fine print saying that only certain stations are open at certain times.

I went to Convo at my normal time, 2 p.m. last Monday. I have class non-stop until then and can’t go earlier. At the egg station, they had BBQ Ranch Salads. Awesome, one of my favorites!

It’s slightly before 2 p.m., so I get in line but a Convo worker tells me that I can’t get in that line because it’s closing.

Firstly, it’s definitely not 2 p.m. yet. Second, for $8,000 a year, I would hope I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want it.

I understand that things rotate based on the day and obviously breakfast isn’t served year round, but what about those students, such as myself, that actually go to class and can only eat between 2 and 5 p.m.?

We certainly got the short end of the stick. And of course, we can’t use our meal swipes at the Eagle’s Nest, so we get to enjoy the deliciously healthy reoccurrence day after day: pasta, a sandwich or a salad. No wonder Convo attendance has dropped, because it’s plain and simple: this gets boring.

I for one have almost stopped going, because I would rather spend my money off campus and get what I want, when I want it.

I know I’m not the only one who feels this way. If Convo would keep their stations open longer – maybe even as short as 30 minutes extra – all of those students who are in class all day can get one last shot at lunch. Or, they could stick to their posted time of “continuous service” from 7 -7 p.m.
