Horn to play on all-district team
November 11, 2010
Ashland University senior wide receiver Joe Horn has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN District Four Academic All-District Football Team. Horn is a first team pick, which means he will advance to the national Academic All-America ballot.
The all-district team was selected by sports information directors in the region. Horn is one of six GLIAC players to be selected to the first team. This is the first time Horn has been named to the team.
Horn is a sport management major with a 3.55 grade point average. He has been named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team in football and indoor and outdoor track and field.
Horn has caught a team-high 34 passes this season for 548 yards (16.1 yards per catch) with seven touchdown receptions. Last week, Horn became Ashland’s leader in career receiving yards (2,351). He is tied with Chris Harkness as Ashland’s leader in career touchdown receptions (23). Horn is second in career receptions (155) at AU.
Twice in his career Horn has been named second team All-GLIAC. He holds the record for the longest reception – 96 yards – in school history, which he’s done twice.
Horn and the Eagles have one regular season games remaining. AU will face Lake Erie Nov. 13 at home at noon.
