Kale Richardson named GLIAC South Player of the Week

Kale Richardson was named the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week by the league office Monday as the Ashland University men’s Basketball team defeated Rio Grande last Tuesday but lost to Edinboro Sunday.
Richardson averaged 22 points and 6.5 rebounds in the two games.
Richardson shot 7-for-13 from the field and 2-for-5 from three.
He led all scorers with 29 points in the contest. At the charity stripe, Richardson hit 13-of-14.
On the glass, Richardson collected seven total rebounds, four of which were offensive. Richardson also added two assists and two steals in 25 minutes of work.
AU scored a season-high 85 points in the 85-62 victory at Kates Gymnasium.
Against Edinboro, Richardson had a team-high 15 points and six boards.
In his 37 minutes of playing time, Richardson also collected two blocked shots.
Unfortunately for the Eagles, AU fell 64-59 in Pennsylvania.
Richardson has a team leading 70 points and 31 rebounds. He is averaging 17.5 points per game putting him in fourth place in the GLIAC for scoring.
His 7.8 rebounds per contest also put him in fourth place for rebounding in the GLIAC.
Richardson has also only missed three free throws on the season (24-of-27).
Richardson’s 1,352 points puts him in 10th place on the school’s all-time scoring list. Richardson is seventh in career rebounds with 594.
Richardson has been named to the All-GLIAC first team twice in his career and was the GLIAC Freshman of the Year in 2007-08.
Richardson earned the GLIAC South Division Player of the Week award twice last season.
The Eagles open conference play Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. at Hillsdale.
