The Secret Menu: The Powda
April 27, 2011
Here it is. My final Secret Menu. I have to say this is kind of bittersweet. It started off as a good idea but I can’t lie, it just became work after a while. I have no idea how many calories I ate or the damage I did to my health, but it was fun.
Since I have to finish strong, I decided to go out with a bang. The Eagles Nest holds some of my favorite Secret Menu memories, so I chose to respect what the Nest has done for my stomach and ordered my final Secret Menu there.
Tyler Saponaro, Jake Westfall and Ross “Beans” Willmot joined together to form a deep-fried pizza eating machine.
“We should call that pizza, ‘The Powda,'” Saponaro said. “Cause my hands are shaking, my heart is racing and I think I’m going to die.”
The Powda started with cheese fries, onion rings, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks and potato skins all thrown into the deep fryer. Once sufficiently covered in grease, the toppings were put on a cheese pizza and baked.
If you order this, I’m telling you right now, grab it with both hands. This thing easily weighed over five pounds. Once at the table, hot sauce, sour cream and ranch sauce were all drizzled over the pizza and we dug in. The dough of the pizza was flat but the crust was delicious. It’s probably a good thing the dough wasn’t greasy like a Pizza Hut pie. Our hearts would have stopped before we would have ever finished.
“The pizza was actually really good,” Westfall said. “It all mixed very well together. I would suggest you get three or four friends and try it.”
The Powda was a challenge to finish, even for four people, but I give it an A+. Full orders of all of those sides, plus a pizza, is no easy task. It was over 16 dollars worth of one hell of a pizza. I don’t know how difficult it was to prepare but this is something that legitimately needs to be put on the menu. I know I for one would spend all my monopoly money on this pizza.
