Circle Mirror Transformation

“Circle Mirror Transformation” will be in the Studio Theatre from Sept. 29 to Oct. 2, and Oct. 6 to Oct. 8. The shows will take place from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., with the exception of a matinee show on Oct. 2, from 2 – 4 p.m.

The play is directed by Fabio Polanco and based off of the written work by Annie Baker.

“Circle Mirror Transformation” has a small cast of five people, including Johanna Regan as Marty, Aaron Arnold as James, Tara Kodosky as Theresa, Nate Sayatovich as Schiltz and Erin Lingenfelter as Lauren.

Polanco is excited about directing this play because he can focus on the characters and not feel drawn away by all the technical elements.

One of the reasons Polanco choose to do this play is because it’s brand new and being heavily produced.

“This is a play the students will undoubtedly audition for in the professional world,” he said.

Polanco is also accustomed to doing pieces that are quite large.

“This [play] is small and intimate and quiet,” he said.

Polanco wants people coming to view the play to understand the intricate features that make this production different from others.

“This is a very different piece,” he said. “It is highly naturalistic, so the characters behave exactly as they would in real life. I am hoping the audience might completely forget they are watching a play and instead feel like they are eavesdropping on something that is supposed to be private.”
