Senior Alex Jones has utilized his college experience to rack up an impressive number of accomplishments within the preceding semesters.

After being named an All-Ohio football player and District Lineman of the Year at Sandusky High School, Jones continued his athletic career on the field.

Jones plays on scholarship as an AU Eagle. As an offensive tackle, Jones is a part of the GLIAC’s Academic All-Conference.

Aside from being athletically talented, Jones is academically successful as well.

A Sandusky High School graduate, Jones was ranked in the top 10% of his class. With his interest in political science, Jones is a member of the Ashbrook Scholar honors program and currently holds the title for being the Erie County Republican Party Chairman.

Jones appreciates the opportunities given to him by the Ashbrook Center.

“It’s an introduction to the practical side of politics,” he said.

Jones has been given the chance to work, meet and talk with candidates as well as elected officials.

The scholarship program has been a time for Jones to get involved in public affairs and receive good name recognition.

Going above and beyond, Jones goes door-to-door to introduce himself to residents in the area, speak about politics and distribute handouts to the public.

Talking personally with members of Congress has been a positive learning experience for Jones.

“I owe the Ashbrook Center a lot for the hands-on experience it gives me,” Jones said.

Jones has a future plan post-graduation to continue pursuing his goals. Following his final year at Ashland, Jones would like to get involved in and work with the state government.
