‘Yellow Roses’ showing at the Kroc Center tonight
February 2, 2012
If you’re starved for some original music, head over to the Ashland Salvation Army Kroc Center at 7 p.m., tonight to hear the band Clay.
The band is giving a concert in honor of a special screening of “Yellow Roses,” a documentary that highlights the struggles and issues young women around the world deal with.
The Kroc Center’s youth ministries coordinator, Melanie Miller, hosts the event and a dessert reception will follow the showing.
“Young women need to know that they are loved and valued by God,” Miller said, “even though the pressures of the world and culture tell them that they are not enough.”
The themes focused on throughout the documentary are relationships, technology, pressure, abuse and hope.
The documentary’s Facebook page states: “This original documentary film series shows the true-life stories of real girls and the many struggles they face growing up.”
“With help, hope and honesty this film shows that they are never alone, they are loved, and they can have hope for the future.”
