Hypnotist Dale K was surpisingly good entertainment

By Byron Reyna-Corzo

I have to admit I was very skeptical about the entertainment going into the Dale K show and settling down into my seat.

Considering that I have never attended this type of show before, a hypnotist just didn’t seem like something I could buy into.

Dale K opened up by explaining all the rules and requirements to the act then went out to the very willing audience to pick whom would participate in the show.

He began to hypnotize the unsuspecting volunteers.

After he had the volunteers under his spell, Kristen Stiles stole the show with her sporadic movements when put to sleep. The most recurring was her immediately falling forward whenever put to sleep by Dale K, which immediately stirred up the audience.

Stiles wasn’t alone, though. Andrew Stiles, her brother, would fall onto her back right after she’d fall forward creating a funny brother-and-sister scene for the crowd.

Dale K continued to build upon his hypnotism by having the volunteers go on and do more random things. At one point, the hypnotized students were under the impression that their fellow volunteer Cyrus Massoudi’s belt was a snake.

Consequently, this prompted Massoudi to immediately remove his shoe in preparation to kill the snake, causing the audience to roar with laughter at the comedic scene.

Massoudi was going in for the kill mere moments before Dale K stopped him. Dale K even talked the participants into believing that he was naked at one point and that a certain male organ was on the “large” side that night. The reaction of the participants, as well as the audience, was priceless.

Then came the time for Dale K to trick another participant, Scott, to take care of the baby that he had “delivered” earlier in the show and did so by putting on a baby-harness to hold onto the baby. Scott named the baby Jonah.

Dale K then continued to taunt poor Scott by hitting his baby doll on the head causing the new father to be upset with the hypnotist.

He did this three times even causing Kate, who was sitting next to Scott and Jonah, to begin to cry due to the baby being hurt repeatedly.

The show went on with the audience fully intrigued and laughter all around until Dale upped the ante. Dale K had convinced Massoudi, Scott and a third male participant, Hueston Holder, that they were all extremely talented male strippers for Australia called the Outback Boys and with a trigger word they sprang into action.

Later in the show, Dale K went out into the audience, once more looking for one lucky audience member.

It just so happened he choose me. I went up onto the stage not having the slightest clue what would happen.

Little did I know it would end up being something that I am still hearing about one week later.

Dale K sat me down in the middle of the stage, said the trigger word and within ten seconds I had three shirtless men in front of me, dancing and continuing to remove clothing.

The audience erupted in roaring laughter.

It was over shortly and I thankfully returned to my seat. Soon after, Dale K was announcing the end of the show and the crowd was on its feet for the final applause, easily being one of the best events on campus in quite some time.

Dale K came to Ashland University very much unknown and by the time he left he was someone that students not only enjoyed, but also couldn’t stop talking about.
