Alpha Delta Pi holds annual charity event

The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi hosted their ninth Annual Lion’s Share Challenge Silent Auction on Sunday, March 24th in John C. Myers Upper Convocation Center. The sorority auctioned off gift certificates, tickets to plays and sporting events, autographed posters, gift baskets, AU apparel, jewelry, sports equipment and much more.

All proceeds from the auction went to their chapter, Epsilon Nu, which has supported the Ronald McDonald House for many years.

Alpha Delta Pi President Shelby Kessinger says, “I have fallen in love with RMH since I joined ADPi, seeing how much we impact families lives when we visit is a remarkable feeling. It is almost like an addiction to keep giving and volunteering.”

RMH provides housing for children receiving treatment at area medical centers at reduced rates or for free due to financial hardship. The Alpha Delta Pi Sorority has witnessed first hand how their support has benefitted sick or injured children. This sisterhood makes it a priority to serve volunteer hours at the Ronald McDonald House throughout each semester.

“This is such a good experience because we get to see first hand what we are putting time and money towards” said Kessinger.

At RMH the sisters go in groups and either cook dinner, do chores, or make crafts with the patients. The Ronald McDonald House strengthens the Alpha Delta Pi sisterhood because of their desire to help their charity and families in need.

“I like volunteering at RMH because we get to help families who are going through such hard times even if they are just cooking dinner. The families are always so thankful and appreciative each time we visit” said ADPi’s recording secretary, Angela Whitesel.

Alpha Delta Pi began gathering donations from local companies in Ashland as well as companies in their hometowns to prepare for this year’s silent auction. Each sister was responsible for donating three items to the auction and selling five tickets to ensure that people would attend.

The sisters of Alpha Delta Pi and their passion for the Ronald McDonald House turned their silent auction into the most successful event ADPi had ever had, raising a total of $12,353.98.
