The Ashland Men’s golf team made sure the hour trip to Tiffin University was worth their while. Ashland started the 2014 Fall schedule with an impressive second place finish in the Kyle Rymann Memorial Invitational hosted by Tiffin University.

The Eagles posted a two round score of 596, putting them four shots clear of third place Findlay.

Host Tiffin playing on their home course, Mohawk Golf and Country Club, won the invitational with a school record two round score of 565.

The second place outing was the product of a strong overall team effort.

Senior Eric Dowiatt paced the Eagles with two round total of 148, including a second round score of 71, just one of invitational low score for the round.

Dowiatt’s two round total placed him in a tie for 10th overall in the individual standings.

Fellow senior Jake Houston was just a shot back of Dowiatt, posting a two round total of 149.

The Lexington native’s 149 was good for a tie for 14th individually.

Junior Austin Schreiber and freshman Zach Mosholder rounded out the team effort by posting 150 and 151 respectively.

The Eagles come off a successful 2014 spring campaign that saw them return to NCAA postseason play for the first time since the 2011-2012 school year and earn a fourth place finish in the GLIAC Spring Invitational.

The Eagles return to the links on Friday September 19th, for round one of the three round GLIAC North Invitational in South Haven, Michigan.
