Student Senate elections held
September 25, 2014
Student Senate elections were held on Monday and Tuesday, with only one contested race.
Jake Miller defeated Hallie Carrino for the senior class president, while several members of senate who were previously appointed won in uncontested races.
Jeff Scott was elected Internal Affairs officer, Kelly Ranttila was elected Finance and Facilities officer, Rhema Centanni was elected Greek Life officer, September Long was elected senior class vice president, and Ben McClay was elected freshman class president.
McClay, as a freshman, was running for the first time.
The election was held this week despite some controversy within Senate.
A group of senators attempted to stall the vote due to issues with election packet availability, but the vote was defeated 9-7.
Student Senate meetings occur every Tuesday in the Student Center conference room at 9:30.
All meetings are open to the public, and students are encouraged to attend.
