Eagles’ Nest outrage

Matt Erickson

Five and a half carrots, seven sticks of celery, three ounces of ranch, 12 chicken wings, and one Bosco stick. At Eagle’s Nest, that costs $12.25.

Now in reality, the price for the food is not terrible, at least for the entree. My problem is paying $.50 for an ounce of ranch – one ounce.

For perspective an ounce of gas is less than two cents an ounce. That’s means that my ounce of ranch is 28 times more expensive than gas.

Now; not only did I actually pay a $1.50 for 3 ounces of ranch (which makes me a fool), but on top of that the woman at the counter had the audacity to question me about paying for said ranch.

So much so that I went and dug my crumpled, sauce riddled receipt out of the trashcan to present it to the woman.

Only after thoroughly examining my receipt to ensure that I did pay a $1.50 for the ranch did she finally let the poor girl behind the counter hand me my two sauce containers. With my ranch in-hand I then made the mistake of asking if  I could have a large cup for water. Silly me, I should’ve known nothing in Ashland comes free.

The woman then proceeded to explain that it would be $.10 if I wanted a large cup. Once I stomached my disbelief I asked her if my leftover $.75 from my two meal swipes would be able to cover the cup. She said the order had been processed, sending the leftover money to the abyss.

I was forced to infer that one missing cup from the inventory would have shattered AU’s finances. Ashland has financial trouble that’s for sure, but holding out on $.10 for a cup is ludicrous.

AU claims to put the “Accent on the Individual” and yet during my recent trip to the Eagles Nest I was treated with disdain and mistrust.

What happened to customer service? Personally, I truly believe that something has to change.
