The Ashland University volleyball team dropped another Great Midwest Athletic Conference match at Ohio Dominican on Saturday afternoon, falling in three straight sets.
With the loss, the Eagles fall to 11-10 overall and 6-5 in the G-MAC, while the Panthers improve to 17-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
Ohio Dominican controlled the game early on, as they took a 10-3 lead in the first set and never let Ashland recover. The Panthers kept that energy throughout the match with good defense and strong hitting, which hindered the Eagles’ ability to get points on the board.
Ashland’s back row was active despite the loss. Junior libero Abbey Queen led the defense with 11 digs, and senior defensive specialist Macy McNamara added 10. Junior setter Marin Dixon finished with 19 assists, hoping to create an offensive spark as they struggled to find rhythm against the panther’s pressure.
The defeat snaps a short winning streak for the Eagles, who now look to regroup, heading into yet another conference test next week.
Ashland returns home to Kates Gymnasium on Friday (Oct. 31) at 6 p.m. for a GMAC matchup against Hillsdale. The night will also serve as the team’s ADHD Awareness Night and Breast Cancer Awareness Night, as part of the Eagles’ community initiatives.
