Number 15 ranked Ashland University women’s soccer team defeated Ursuline 2-1 on Saturday, Oct. 25. The Eagles are now 11-2-2 overall and 9-0-2 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference; the Arrows are 4-9-1 overall, 2-8-1 in the conference.
In the 12th minute, the Eagles struck first, getting on the board after senior midfielder Emily Pate scored an unassisted goal. This was Pate’s fifth goal of the season and third in the last two weeks.
The Arrows got on the board to even the score in the 41st minute when Amia Wilson scored her own unassisted goal.
Ashland regained control in the second half after an unassisted goal from freshman forward Tessa Blain in the 65th minute. The freshman ow has 13 points on the season with five goals.
The Eagles held the Arrows only four shots, outshooting them 25-4, their second-most this fall. Jaya Daniel, a fifth-year goalkeeper, made three saves improving to 10-1-2.
Ashland keeps their first-place title in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after defeating Ursuline, four points ahead of Findlay.
Next, the Eagles will head on the road to Findlay for another Great Midwest game on Thursday, Oct. 30th at 1 p.m.
