Ashland (8-2-2, 6-0-2 G-MAC) stays unbeaten in league play and holds solo possession of first place in the conference, as they are three points ahead of Cedarville.
The Eagles got on the board early in the game, as senior midfielder Emily Pate scored her third goal of the season, not even four minutes into the match. The 1-0 lead was held until the final seconds, when Northwood (6-1-4, 3-1-4) found a way to balance it out. Ella Boyd scored in the 90th minute off an assist from Ashtyn Lange, which stopped Ashland from picking up its seventh straight win.
Despite the late goal, the Eagles controlled much of the match, outshooting the Timberwolves 18-10 and earning seven corner kicks to Northwood’s six. Fifth-year goalkeeper Jaya Daniel made three saves and now holds an 8-1-2 record.
“A tie is still better than a loss,” said Pate. “We still have the grit to not give the game up, and we have shown that twice in a row now.”
Ashland is unbeaten in its last nine matches, with seven wins and two draws during that stretch.
The Eagles return home for Senior Night on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. against Lake Erie at Ferguson Field.
