On Thursday, Oct. 2, the Ashland men’s soccer team beat Thomas More 3-0 on the road. The Eagles are now 3-4-1 overall and 2-3 in conference play, while the Saints are 3-4-1, 2-2-1.
Senior Forward Soshi Tanaka kicked off the scoring for the Eagles in the 14th minute after scoring an unassisted goal, his fourth goal of the season. The Eagles expanded their lead to 2-0 after a goal from senior defensemen Flynn Toon in the 31st minute, his first of the AU season.
Junior midfielder Sergio Ruiz put the Eagles up 3-0 in the 83rd minute scoring his first goal of the season and securing an Eagle victory.
The Eagles outshot the Saints 11-9 and took 11 of the game’s 14 corner kicks. Sophomore Alvaro Boned made four saves to get his first shutout as an Eagle.
Ashland will be back at Ferguson Field to take on Malone on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6:30 p.m.
