On Tuesday, Oct. 2, the annual Ashland University Student Senate meeting took place swearing in the new members of the administration. New members took positions such as building representatives and public relations.
“I was so excited to be swearing in 10 new senators,” said Student Senate President, Aubrey Stepinak. “Every perspective added to the student senate is valuable, and we are so lucky to be obtaining new members who are ready to contribute.”
Not only did the student senate sworn in new members, but they talked about current issues happening on campus, as well as future events.
Issues such as Wi-Fi problems, Andrew’s dorm building door not locking behind students and first year success seminar.
In the meeting, the board stated if any students are having issues with their device connections to contact IT and tell them what device you must use to help with the issue.
With first year success seminar, students are having to do a book study instead of university information. The reason why is because the AU provost stated that it has better statistics with students.
For upcoming events, the board talked about homecoming events with the Campus Activities Board and a future spirit week.
On Tuesday, Oct. 7th, 10 a.m. to noon, students can receive hot chocolate and cookies at an event called, “Eagles Sips.” But during the homecoming week, students can participate in a spirit week.
On Monday it is wearing Ashland University gear, Tuesday is repping your organization, Wednesday is jersey day, Thursday is throwback day and Friday is anything but a backpack day.
Even with swearing in new members to the student senate, the board is still looking for new members to join.
“Open positions such as Officer of CCP, Sophomore Class Vice President, Interntional Students Representative and so much more,” Stepinak said. “The list of open positions can be found on our Instagram page [austudentsenate].”
