With Halloween creeping around the corner one may wonder what events are happening in Ashland. Below is a list of times, dates and prices for all to reference.
The Ashland County Historical Society will be hosting its “Halloween House” at the Freer Mansion on Thursday, Oct. 16, Friday, Oct. 17, Saturday, Oct. 18, Sunday, Oct. 19, Friday, Oct.24 and Saturday Oct 26. From 6-8 p.m. attendees will pay a flat rate of $3 for adults (18+) and students with a valid ID and $1 for children three years old and up. All participants will be admitted into the museum to enjoy an after-hours experience with eerie decor.
On Friday, Oct. 24, Ashland Main Street will be hosting its annual Costume Crawl. From 6 – 10 p.m. the streets of Ashland will be lined with adults ages 21 and up. All proper aged persons are invited to join the costume contest. Voting will take place via Facebook, and the winner(s) will receive a $25 gift card to a downtown restaurant of their choosing. In spirit of the holiday, this will be a DORA event.
Also on Oct. 24, the Ashland County Historical Society will hold the “Dark History Tour.” Admission is $5 a person and tours will depart from 414 Center Street the Mannor House at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. Due to the mature content that will be discussed this event is for ages 16 and up.
On Tuesday, Oct. 28 Ashland Main Street will hold another one of its traditions, Costume Capers. This family friendly event will be held from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Claremont and Union Street. All are welcome to participate and encouraged to wear costumes.
On Thursday, Oct. 31 the City of Ashland will host its annual Trick-or-Treat from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Rain or shine, the event will be open for all to enjoy.
Residents in the Ashland area will have their porch lights on as a friendly way for families to know where to get candy. The city requests the respect of those walking the streets not to disturb those who do not have their lights on.
On Friday, Oct. 31 Ashland University’s Radio Station (WRDL) and Campus Activities Board (CAB) teamed up to bring the fun of Halloween to AU Students. From 8 – 11 p.m. students of Ashland University may enjoy building a stuffed animal, painting pumpkins with glow in the dark paint, dancing and more in Redwood Hall. There will be a costume contest with many different prizes later in the evening. For those who may not be able to attend, WRDL invites all to listen live as the evening will be broadcast.
Also, on Friday, Oct. 31 the Kroc Center will be hosting its first “Kroctober Halloween Fest.” From 6 –9 p.m. members of the community may enjoy a plethora of activities like inflatables, haunted Halloween train, spooky skating, meet Jack Skellington and more. The entrance fee is $15 for non- members and $10 for members. Starting at 7:30 p.m. attendees may pay an extra $10 (members) – $15 (non-members) to enjoy the new “Ghostly Glow and Swim” party
