The secret menu of convo
September 21, 2015
It is often heard how good convo`s food is. It has a menu with plenty of options. You can have any sandwich you want, or get eggs, in really any way you want thanks to the egg lady and of course one cannot forget about the wide variety of desserts that fat bar has.
But believe it or not, there will be a time when convo food will all look the same to you. You will start complaining about the lack of variety of food and how bored you are with it. Everybody has felt this way at some point in their student life.
That’s why I present to you the secret menu of convo. This secret menu is an effort made by students to break up their normal food routine. After talking with several students and based on my own experience, these are some of the food combinations that have been discovered over the years:
Create your own milkshake:
The first thing that you need to do is go to fat bar. You grab a glass and fill it with a little bit of milk. Then, you will ask the person serving ice cream to put two scoops of any flavor you want. After that, add a little more milk and then with a straw or with a spoon you stir until the milk and ice cream are fully mixed together.
Waquiem Comar is a graduate student from AU, but while here, he enjoyed preparing his own milkshakes.
“I have always liked milkshakes back home, but here are better because you have so many ice cream options,” said Comar.
Hot cookies?
Yes, you read correctly, hot cookies. One thing that you are going to love about fat bar is the variety of cookies it has, but after a while those chocolate chips cookies won’t be as tasty as they were the first day.
To improve them, you can make them taste like they just came out of the oven by putting the cookie in the microwave for a few seconds. The recommend time is 15 seconds. This amount of time will make the cookie softer inside but still a little bit crunchy on the outside. And the best part is that the chocolate chips will melt half away so when you bite it can completely dissolve in your mouth.
Jennifer Moore is a softball player who knows what to get for dessert. Hot cookies are definitely her number one choice for dessert.
“Hot cookies are good with cold milk, melts in your mouth,” said Moore.
Meatball Sub
On white or wheat bread, you just have to say to words “meatball sub” and the person making sandwiches is going to know exactly what you are talking about. They will take the bread and put a cheese of your choice on the bread. Then, they will place three meatballs on the bread and cover it with delicious parmesan cheese. They will toast it so the parmesan will melt on top and the other cheese will mix with the meatball sauce resulting in a crunchy, tasteful sandwich.
“They`re a warm cheesy goodness,” said Sally Trout senior at AU.
Oh, for a second I thought you said chicken and waffles together?
Actually yes, chicken and waffles together seems to be a thing.
Logan Gay is a senior enjoying one of her last meals in convo. When I approached her, asking what she was eating, the only thing that I could see on her plate was several pieces of chicken on top of a waffle.
According to Gay, this mixture of food is very well known in the South.
“It is very good, you have that sweet and salty taste that everyone likes,” said Gay.
