Dani Hicks had her fingerprints all over this game as she had a night that she will remember for a long time. She recorded ten points (four goals, two assists) as the No. 21 Eagles dominated Tiffin 7-0, in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
With 39 career goals, Hicks moves up to fourth place on AU’s all-time list. With 100 career points, she is up to fifth on that Ashland list.
Head Coach Cayleb Paulino was very pleased with his squad.
“We sent a message to the rest of the conference. When you drop a couple games, probably people think, hey, Ashland’s taken a step back,” said Paulino. “I love the attitude and energy from the group today. There were some big-time contributions.”
The Eagle goalkeeper combination of fifth-year Jaya Daniel and freshman Izzy Ezzone combined for the second clean sheet of the season. AU outshot Tiffin 19-2, and the Eagles had seven of the game’s eight corner kicks.
This game served as the annual Morgan’s Message game, showing awareness to the organization that aims to amplify stories, resources and expertise to strengthen student-athlete mental health. The Eagles wore their light blue warmups to support Moorg’n’s essage.
Next up for the Eagles is another home game on Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. vs. Ursuline.
