On Sept. 11, the Ashland University Wrestling Team played “Capture the Flag” in the quad.
At first glance, one would have no idea of what was happening in the middle of AU’s campus. For the afternoon, the quad was filled with AU’s wrestling team; half wearing blue and the other half wearing red.
“We’re building team camaraderie and just having fun,” said Assistant Wrestling Coach Logan Griffin.
“Capture the Flag” is a popular tag-based game played by two teams typically on an outdoor field. Both teams had four minutes to hide a flag on their side of the playing area.
Players can tag opponents that cross into their territory and send them to “jail.” Teammates can free those captured by tagging them out. The objective of the game is to capture the other team’s flag from their base and return it to your own base without being tagged.
“I’m actually surprised at how much better it has turned up than I thought it was going to,” said Griffin. “I thought the guys were going to lose interest after a couple minutes, but it’s been great so far.”
