Ashland University’s three fraternities, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Kappa Psi and Kappa Sigma, are offering unique events for potential new members as Bid Day gets closer.
To name some of the events they have offered recently: Phi Delta Theta hosted a bonfire on Sept. 10, Phi Kappa Psi had glow mini golf on Sept. 8 and Kappa Sigma had an NFL Watch Night on Sept. 7.
Bid Day, in which prospective fraternity members will receive invitations from interested fraternities and choose which one they want to join, will happen on Sunday, Sept. 14 this semester.
“This period of time is really to get people not only interacting with more people across campus, especially within the fraternities themselves, but to open the door to see like, is there a spot for you in any of these chapters,” said Director of Fraternity and Sorority Life Gabe Del Valle. “Each chapter kind of has their own individual creeds, constitutions, cultures and stuff like that that you can really interact with and learn at these recruitment events to see if there’s a spot for you there,” he continued.
According to the Fraternities page on the Ashland University website the brotherhoods represent the following:
Kappa Sigma: “Have formed a strong brotherhood that promotes positive thinking and personal growth through new opportunities.”
Phi Delta Theta: “Maintain a high standard organization founded on the basis of friendship, sound learning and moral rectitude.”
Phi Kappa Psi: “‘A brotherhood of honorable men, courteous and cultured, who pledge throughout their lives to be generous, compassionate and loyal comrades.”
While the Fall recruitment process is the most notable series of events for new members, the fraternities will still accept new recruits throughout the school year.
