ASHLAND, Ohio – The Coburn Art Gallery at Ashland University is hosting a regional juried exhibition from Tuesday, May 27, through Saturday, July 26, featuring works created by the 23 members of the Ashland Community Arts League. The opening reception will be Friday, May 30, from 5-7 p.m.
The exhibition consists of 71 works and offers a wide range of art forms, including painting, glass, photography, fiber arts, woodworking, printmaking, ceramics, drawing, papermaking and mixed media.
Exhibiting artists are Barbara Nell Morejon, Christine Krantz, Betz Johnson Richards, Cynthia Petry, Dana Sherburne, Debra Akers, Irene Maginniss, Marty Bossler Lee, Heidi Weller, MP Marion, Nancy Dupre, Peggy Stover, Bradley Bunn, Ricki Dénes, Ecca Walk, Ron Abrams, Susan Shafer, Micheala Brehm, Sharon Stone, Jeri Klobutcher, Doug Becht, Irv Oslin and Janet Wells.
The guest juror for the exhibition was Clare Murray Adams, a retired professor of art and former chair of the visual art department at Malone University. With a background in contemporary quilting, her art now centers around mixed media collage, on both paper and fabric, with stitching as a common thread. Adams’ exhibits include two acceptances to Quilt National, international exhibitions in Canada and Japan and one-person shows in Ohio, South Carolina, Michigan and California. Her quilts and collages are in many private collections.
