On Saturday, April 19 the Ashland University lacrosse team beat the Findlay Oilers 12-11. This was the last game of the regular season for the Eagles, and it left them with a perfect conference record of 8-0. Their overall season record is now 12-5. These twelve wins set a new program-record for the Eagles.
This loss left the Oilers with a conference record of 6-2 with an overall record of 7-10.
During the game, there was never a gap in the score that was more than three goals. The Eagles led that gap four times.
One reason this gap was kept so close was junior goalkeeper Annie Duncan. She had to miss the end of the second quarter due to injury, however, she made a season-high-tying 11 saves during the game.
Another Eagle making program history was junior attacker Ashley Fisher. Having scored seven points on Saturday with four goals and three assists, she now sits at a total of 101 points, making her the first woman in program history to score over 100 points.
Ashland and Findlay were both almost even in shots, Ashland having 31 and Findlay having 30. As for turnovers, Ashland led again 22-21.
Due to this win, Ashland will host the Great Midwest Tournament Final Four on May 1 and 3 at Jack Miller Stadium/Martinelli Field.
