On Tuesday, April 15, Student Senate met for its last meeting with 2024-2025 senators serving. The positions were transitioned to the 2025-2026 Senate.
Aubrey Stepanik was sworn in as Student Senate President, officially taking over the role from Aidan Nayak. Additionally, other newly elected senators were sworn into their roles towards the end of the meeting, when Stepanik served her first time as president.
Among the topics discussed included a reminder from Ty Bowden, Officer of Residence Life, that dorm halls close Saturday, May 3 at 5 p.m. Students planning to stay longer need to fill out a form on eRezLife by 5 a.m. on April 25.
Dr. Rob Pool, administrative advisor of the student senate, also brought up the possibility of a new parking pass system being introduced for the next school year.
“Safety Services wants to create a little bit more of a nuanced parking pass situation,” explained Pool about the potential new system.
The new system seeks to add two new types of parking passes to the already existing Regular and Commuter passes, which both cost $95. The Limited Pass, which would cost $50 and only allow students to park in Lot B, but would be beneficial for students who want to save money and don’t drive much. The Super Pass, which would cost $150, would allow students to park in any student parking spots on campus except for commuter spots. The new system hopes to give students more flexibility in their choices for parking.
Student Senate meets for the last time this semester Tuesday, April 22 at 9:30 p.m. in the ABCD Conference Room of the Hawkins-Conard Student Center. For more information, visit its Instagram page @austudentsenate.
