October 3, 2015
Ashland University has officially begun the search for the new provost.
The job listing was posted on Sept. 25 at 12:56 p.m.
The group that was put together to lead the search for the new provost consists of five faculty members, two administrators, and one student. The faculty group includes Mason Posner, David Vanata, Victoria Kasket, Allison Dickey and Diane Bonfiglio.
From administration the two representatives are Stephen Storck and Scott Van Loo. The student of the committee is Ivan Larson.
“We have good representation it’s mainly a faculty driven committee and that was the interest of the president, the provost is the chief academic officer of the university so their in charge of all the academic ventures that take place on campus, so faculty should rightfully have a big part,” said Mason Posner who leads the search committee.
The qualifications that the committee is looking for can be found on the job listing on AU’s page. The main qualification besides a required earned terminal degree, according to the job listing, is that the candidate must have “a strong academic record meriting appointment to the University’s senior academic position and be committed to the Christian faith.” The job listing also notes that the university has “launched into a new strategic planning process providing the Provost with the opportunity to play a foundational role in the future direction and success of the University.”
The committee’s main goals at this time are to sketch out a timeline and figure out how the group can most easily convey the updates of the search to the campus.
