The Ashland University Track and Field team travelled to the University of Cincinnati for the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5.
The team racked up plenty of new provisional marks, which earns them the possibility of competing in the 2025 NCAA Division II Championships in Pueblo, Colo. on May 22-24.
Earning herself a gold medal and a new provo mark in the process, junior Jade Avance won the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:07.38. Teammate and graduate student Hope Sievert placed fourth and also earned a provo mark as well with a time of 2:10.20.
Sophomore Molly Winner won the women’s shot put, with a throw of 15.01 meters, improving her provo mark from the previous week.
Senior Jacob Pielech also placed second in the men’s 400-meter dash, earning a new provo mark with a time of 47.40.
The women’s 4×100 meter relay squad of senior Greta Barker alongside sophomores Odessa Smith, Brianna Chenevey and Hailey Rios placed third and earned a new provo mark with a time of 45.76.
Junior Abby Wheeler tied for fourth in the women’s high jump, jumping 1.72 meters and earning herself a new provo mark in the process.
Chenevey placed fourth in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 23.98, earning herself a new provo mark as well.
Senior Sarah Masuoka tied for fourth in the women’s pole vault, earning a new provo, with a height of 3.80 meters.
And finally, sophomore Leslie Pollock joined her teammates in earning a provo mark in the women’s hammer throw, throwing 54.65 meters.
The following Eagles placed first in their respective events: the women’s 4×400 meter relay quartet of sophomore Brianna Chenevey, freshman Olivia Saylor, Avance and senior Mia Gardner with a time of 3:46.47; the men’s 4×400 meter relay squad of senior Colin Hunkele, junior Derrick Amapps, senior Ethan Schuster and senior Jacob Pielech with a time of 3:11.84 and the men’s 4×100 meter relay squad of senior Caden Morris, Amapps, senior Joe Wahl and sophomore Liam Mann with a time of 41.11.
The following Eagles placed second in their respective events: Morris in the men’s long jump, jumping 7.15 meters; Pollock in the women’s discus throw, throwing 42.78 meters; sophomore Sidney Sheppert in the women’s triple jump, jumping 10.92 meters; fifth-year Aniya Seward in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.75 and assistant coach T.J. Skinner in the men’s 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.21.
The following Eagles placed third in their respective events: Winner in the women’s hammer throw, throwing 56.65 meters; junior Isiah King in the men’s 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.72; Smith in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.81; sophomore Nalin Robinson in the men’s discus throw, throwing 48.50 meters; freshman Carter Smith in the men’s pole vault, vaulting 4.71 meters and senior Kelsey Kinsley in the women’s shot, throwing 13..87 meters.
Next up the Eagles will travel to Michigan for the Hillsdale Outdoor Mid-Week Multi Meet on Wednesday, April 9 through Thursday, April 10.
