As of March 13, Dr. Greg McBrayer, associate professor of political science, is appointed interim provost at Ashland University. He will start on March 17. AU Provost, Dr. Amiel Jarstfer, will serve in an advisory capacity to McBrayer through the end of May, according to a press release sent to AU staff and faculty.
McBrayer will also resign from his duties as faculty senate president to take on the role of provost.
“As we undertake strategic academic planning, I decided to make this transition now to position the university for long-term success,” Jon Peede, AU president, said. “I appreciate the many significant contributions of Provost Jarstfer to Ashland University. His love for the university is abundantly clear. Jarstfer and McBrayer share the same commitment to putting students first through the ‘Accent on the Individual.’”
McBrayer joined AU as faculty in 2017, and currently serves as the director of the AU Core Curriculum. As part of the Ashbrook Center, he is the assistant director of the Ashbrook Scholar Program and is an advisor to the Ashbrook’s Citizens Programs.
AU plans to announce leadership promotions in the coming weeks.
This is a developing story.
