Starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, students gathered in the conference room of the student center to begin their 24-hour writing workshop hosted by the English Honor’s Society, Sigma Tau Delta.
Although this event is similar to Alpha Psi Omega’s 24-hour theatre workshop, the experience is new to the Languages and Literature lovers at AU.
Drinks and snacks were provided, as the participants were in for a long night.

After introductions and icebreakers, students began their first task: a creative writing workshop with graduate student, Katy Major.
Throughout the night, many different stations were led by students such as poetry, fiction, gothic, romance, and fantasy workshops, all to improve writing skills.
Dr. Chuck Carlise, was also present to host a workshop and give advice.
After hours of progress, students were left with at least one impressive piece that had been looked at by multiple staff members and students.

Finally, at 6 p.m. the following day, an open mic took place in Eagle’s Landing of the Student Center, where students showed off their hard work to the crowd.
“This was our first attempt at an event like this, and fingers-crossed it’s not our last one,” said Josh Carpenter, co-president of Sigma Tau Delta.
