Ashland University has been getting more done whether you notice them or not.
“We, in facilities, are doing our job, no one really notices. I mean you don’t notice if you’re comfortable, but you definitely notice if you’re uncomfortable,” Rick Ewing, the vice president of operations and planning, said.

The goal for right now is to make AU feel more welcoming, which is why they started to put up the signage around campus.
Facilities have been working on putting names on buildings so visitors have an easier time figuring out where to go. They are also going to be adding signs on the roads for those tricky one-ways around campus.

There has also been a lot of work being done at the Seminary to create more classrooms from a grant they received from the state of, “Ohio’s Support Their Addiction” program.
For students, they have been working on a new study room on the fourth floor of the library and plan on making a criminal justice lab.
“There’s a lot. We have got about 1.7 million square feet here on campus, and so there’s a lot of needs,” Ewing said.
In the summer, they are hoping to get a new stage for the Hugo Young Theatre and get Lot J paved.
“It’s just an ongoing to-do list of things we want to do and match both the time and funding are the two tricky parts and then being able to work into schedules,” Ewing said.
With it almost being springtime, it becomes easier for outside improvements to be made. Keep an eye out for the new projects they have in mind for the students and residents of Ashland.
