The Ashland University STUNT team opened their season on Saturday Feb. 1 to Sunday Feb. 2 in Lexington, KY.
The Eagles opened the weekend competing against the Division I Northern Kentucky University Vikings where they defeated Vikings the in an overwhelming score of 22-0.
The team continued competing in the evening against the No. 2 Missouri Baptist Spartans where the Spartans came close to defeating the Eagles; however, the Eagles pulled out a win of 14-11 to end their Saturday.
Senior flyer/tumbler Alyssa McLaughlin led the Eagles in points with 40 points with senior flyer/base/tumbler Chloe Colvin trailing behind her against Missouri Baptist with 33 points.
The team continued the weekend on Sunday where they took on the No. 9 Trevecca Nazarene Trojans and the No. 3 University of Tennessee Martin Skyhawks.
The Eagles found their first and last loss of the weekend against the Trojans with a score of 15-16. The decision came after the teams went into two overtimes to determine a winner.
The Eagles came back against the Skyhawks with a win of 18-7.
Their weekend concluded with three wins and one loss to begin their season. The Eagles will next travel to take on the Hiram College Terriers on Friday Feb. 7 at 12:30 p.m.
