At AU, there are over 30 members that make up the Student Senate. Of those members, 13 are also a part of Fraternity and Sorority life on campus.
Senior, Hayley Dufala is currently serving as the College of Nursing Representative on Student Senate and has been part of the group since October 2024. Dufala is a member of the Epsilon Alpha Phi Chapter at AU and holds the positions of Panhellenic Delegate and the Director of Big/Little.
Both FSL and Student Senate go hand in hand in many ways.
“It’s very nice to be able to be a part of both organizations, and the opportunities that they each give are very rewarding,” said Dufala.
Senior, Sanjna Arora, is the Executive Chair for Activities, Budgets, and Charters, and is also a member of the Epsilon Alpha Phi Chapter at AU.
“Both the groups intertwine in terms of leadership opportunities,” said Arora. “Both FSL and Student Senate are a great group of emerging leaders who are so fun and productive at the same time.”
Student Senate normally meets every Tuesday at 9 p.m. to discuss any matters on campus.
“It can be a little busy sometimes, with the commitments both groups have to offer, but it’s not that hard, for me at least, as I enjoy each and every bit of both,” said Arora.
“My one piece of advice for anyone looking to join either both or one of the groups would be, ‘Do it,’ it is so much fun,” she explained. “Both FSL and Senate are a great group of people aspiring to be good leaders someday!”
