Ashland University’s Indoor Track and Field team continued with their season Saturday Jan. 18 at Kent State for the Jud Logan Memorial Meet.
During the meet, more Eagles earned a spot on the list of athletes who have earned their provisional marks for the 2025 NCAA Division II indoor nationals which is set to take place March 13-15 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Some of the newest additions to the men’s team provisional marks list includes sophomore Colton Thress with the men’s 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.64, earning himself first place at the meet.
Junior Daylen Madison also achieved his mark in the men’s 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.67, placing second in the event.
Junior Garrett Baker placed second in the men’s pole vault with a height of 5.25 meters.
Sophomore Matthew Noel in the high jump, jumping 1.90 meters and placing third in the event.
For the women’s team provisional mark additions, senior Lily Dowdell won the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:48.05.
Senior Aniya Seward won the women’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.78 but achieved the mark in prelims with a time of 8.77 and jumped 12.05 meters in the women’s triple jump earning her second place.
Freshman Brianna Chenevey won the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 56.06, while junior Jade Avance placed third in the women’s 400-meter dash with a time of 56.65.
Sophomore Allie Dunlap placed third in the women’s pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters.
Not only did the Eagles achieve their provisional marks needed for nationals, but the following Eagles placed first in their respective events: junior Nate Slater in the men’s mile with a time of 4:09.59; sophomore Molly Winner in the women’s shot put, throwing 15.10 meters; senior Caden Morris in the men’s long jump, jumping 7.55 meters; senior Jacob Pielech in the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 48.42 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.97; and the men’s 4×400 meter relay with senior Noah Wood, Thress, junior Colin Ellis, and Madison with a time of 3:20.00.
The following Eagles placed second: senior D.J. Duncan in the men’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.11; graduate student Hope Sievert in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:15.41; junior Montana Walker in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 25.37; Winner in the women’s weight throw, throwing 19.13 meters; senior Sarah Masuoka in the women’s pole vault with a height of 3.75 meters.
Finally, the following Eagles managed to earn third place in their respective events: senior Emilie Lemon in the women’s mile ran a 5:03.90; sophomore Brian Turner in the men’s 400-meter dash with a time of 49.07; Chenevey in the women’s 60-meter dash; senior Mia Gardner in the women’s 200-meter dash, running a 25.62; Noel in the men’s high jump, jumping 1.90 meters; sophomore Leslie Pollock in women’s shot put, throwing 18.81 meters; sophomore Hailey Rios in the women’s long jump, jumping 5.55 meters; and senior Jacob Bechtel in the men’s weight throw, throwing 16.95 meters.
The Eagles look to continue their success next weekend at home in the Niss Athletic Center for the Ashland Invitational Saturday Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. This meet will be a Morgan’s Message meet that aims for students to be mental health advocates and leaders.
